Our First Road Trip and Easter 2019
/We took our first family road trip to my hometown of Junction City, Kansas last weekend. This was a huge deal for us all because it was Jack’s first time leaving the state of Missouri and both boys’ first time leaving the KC Metro. We loaded the car up with all of the essentials early Saturday morning and hit the road.
It was a long drive with not much to see but both boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves and barely slept at all. Two hours and a couple dozen cows later we were at my Papa’s house where I grew up. My grandparents have lived on this land my whole life and it was the most surreal thing to see my kids there. Playing with things I played with and enjoying nature with their Papa Great.
We also took Jack out to his first restaurant and the boys got to go see their Nana Banana for the first time.
Easter 2019 was a much different holiday than its 2018 cousin. 2018 was spent in the NICU, the boys were just 3 weeks old and were weighing in at 2.5 pounds a piece. The March of Dimes gifted them these sweet little bunnies that were practically towering over their diminutive frame. However, this year they could easily take those bunnies down in a good old fashioned fisticuff.
Easter morning was spent chewing on plastic eggs and sitting in their cool new Adirondack chairs like big boys.
Overall it was one of the greatest weekends of my entire life. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it so special. I leave you with this sweet picture of my two angels looking out the window Nan spent so much of her time at. Watching her birds, family and friends coming and going, or her sweet - probably up to no good - husband. She would have loved this moment.
