We Had Four Kids!
/When I was younger my uncle would take me for 1 week every summer to get in some quality time and a mini vacation. The memories we made during those summers are times I will never forget and they are so special to me. Being an only child I thought I would never get to have such a tradition and then I married Josh who has the most amazing sister who has the two best kids. So this past weekend we reignited this tradition and had our nephews over for a weekend of fun and quality time. Our nephews are 11 & 7 and between the two of them and our 1 year old twins it was a full house of boys. It was super interesting to have two boys much older than Jack and Rory, like a view into our not to distant future. There was a lot of boy stuff like monsters, Minecraft and poop jokes but it was a most special time that I will not soon forget.
Our nephews may be some of the sweetest kids I have ever met. I went into the weekend thinking it would be a tremendous amount of work to wrangle my two with two spare but they were so helpful with everything including keeping me and my babies entertained.
We didn’t luck out with the weather as it was over 100 degrees each day but we made do with indoor activities and a giant pillow fort. We also took advantage of the early morning to score some super cute cousin crew pics.
Since this was Holden and Damion’s vacation Josh made sure to take each big boy on their own special adventure. Damion got to go to see the new Godzilla movie in theaters, an obsession that he and Josh share. And Holden got to take a special trip to the aquarium which may be one of his favorite places in the world, he raved about it for hours after they got home.
We ended out mini-cuz-cation with a long drive back to the home front and got to get in some quality time with Papa Ray before we returned them to their super awesome Mom and Dad.
Jack was not too keen when he found out his cousins were not coming back home with us and I couldn’t agree with him more!
