March 2020 Recap

The month of March has followed suit with the rest of this year, there were some ups, some downs and some twisty turns but we have made it to April all in one piece. However, we are locked inside of our home in some sort of apocalyptic global pandemic. And that’s not even entirely a joke.

We started March just after we lost our Papa Ray. It was a little bit of a rough start but we were so busy with all of the things coming up that it sort of blew on by. We took our last few trips outside of the house as a family of four and even got to go to the party store and try on some fun hats.

Right before social distancing was a thing we had the boys’ second birthday party. We have a whole blog post dedicated to this here: Twins Turn Two - A Taco TWOsday Party.

Just after that Jack had a routine surgical procedure done. It was a whirlwind of a day and with the COVID-19 pandemic on the rise being in the hospital was a little sketchy but the procedure was a success and he has suffered no negative side-effects. I have a entire blog post about this as well and it is here: Jack Had Surgery

Friday 3/20 we suspended Jack’s nursing care due to the growing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 growing rapidly in Missouri. We trust our nurses implicitly however, we thought it best that we lock our house down and keep all outside germs and people particles on the outside. Downside of that, we lost all of our help during the working and sleeping hours. Jack has moved up to our room so that we can attempt to sleep in rotating bursts while also hearing any alarms and maintaining his over night feeding schedule. It has not been the easiest transition however, it has been quite delightful to just be a family of four. Josh and I realized quickly that within 2 days we had officially spent the most time alone just the four of us since the boys were born.

Since quarantine started, Jack and Rory have learned to color (not in the lines or anything but since we like them we consider it fridge worthy) Rory has discovered his love for all things chocolate especially M&M’s, we have watched Frozen II 42 times because both of our children are enamored with Ana and Elsa, oh and did I mention JACK TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS!!!

Being locked in your home with your family makes for some really incredible opportunities to make memories, we are trying to stay positive and treasure these moments that we have and enjoy this time. I hope you all are staying home safe and well.
